FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalysis. Disclosed is an ion-exchange catalyst for isomerisation of xylene. The xylene isomerisation catalyst contains: 1-99 wt % of at least one zeolite selected from MFI, MEL, EUO, FER, MFS, MTT, MTW, TON, MOR and FAU, and 1-99 wt % of a binding substance containing aluminium phosphate, and not more than 350 ppm (wt) of a noble metal with respect to weight of the catalyst. The catalyst has the ratio (area of CO)/(wt % noble metal) of not more than 0.10.
EFFECT: disclosed catalyst provides high purity of the isomerisation product.
