MEMBER SEPARABLE FROM HYPERSONIC FLYING VEHICLE POSSESSING AERODYNAMIC EFFICIENCY Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2223896 C1

FIELD: aerodynamics; separable hypersonic flying vehicles. SUBSTANCE: proposed separable member may be used in recoverable space transport systems, launch vehicles and other hypersonic systems and vehicles for ensuring stabilized descent of members separated from hypersonic flying vehicle. Member separated from hypersonic flying vehicle has envelope provided with holes closed with covers. Covers are connected with envelopes over perimeter of holes overlapping connecting units for separation of covers from envelope. Position of holes is so selected that aerodynamic moment acting on surfaces of covers should act in direction of moment requiring zeroing. Sizes and positions of holes on surface of separable member are dictated by aerodynamic moment Mz, acting on separable member at angle of attack corresponding to zero aerodynamic lifting force and minimum aerodynamic drag in hypersonic section of flight. EFFECT: enhanced stabilization of separable member without external stabilizing forces. 2 cl, 4 dwg
