PROCEDURE DETERMINING TROUBLESOME ZONE IN INTEGRITY OF REINFORCED CONCRETE DAMS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2224066 C2

FIELD: detection of positions of troublesome zones in integrity of reinforced concrete dams and of zones of dams contacting rocks of foundation and bank connections. SUBSTANCE: procedure includes control over water level in observation wells in body of dam originally filled to well-head, determination of moment of decrease of level in observation well or group of wells, establishment of position of crossing of troublesome zone with allocated wells. Air is pumped with constant rate by turns though wells in positions of their crossing with troublesome zone till its pressure is steady-state which is established. Thereafter pumping of air is stopped, pressure is reduced to zero, level set in observation wells is measured and character of extent of troublesome zone in body of dam, type and parameters of filling medium in interval of crossing with through flow troublesome zone are evaluated. Later indicator medium is injected through wells into intervals of crossing with troublesome zone to determine velocity of flow over plane of troublesome zone and its outflow out of body of dam defines visually position of boundaries of troublesome zone on surface of dam. Colored liquid is utilized in the capacity of indicator medium while establishing non-flow pressure and flow through troublesome zones. Foam is used in addition to define their boundaries on pressure- free surface of dam if they exist. Foam is also employed when defining availability of non-flow pressure-free troublesome zone. Spatial position of troublesome zone is found by position of surface to which intervals of crossing of troublesome zone with well and boundaries on surface of dam corresponding to them belong. EFFECT: selection of most rational technology of elimination of troublesome zone thanks to generation and measurement of characteristics of dam. 8 cl, 29 dwg
