FIELD: medicine; medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves measuring temperature on several areas of the mammary gland by means of temperature pickup. Mammary gland pathology is diagnosed from temperature difference corresponding to norm and pathology. Heat signal from the temperature pickup is transformed into DC signal of level proportional to measured temperature. The DC signal is transformed into AC signal which frequency is proportional to DC signal level. The signal is represented and high temperature zone is determined from acoustic frequency, showing availability of corresponding pathology. Then, the pickup is moved solution that its motion trajectories intersect in high temperature zone that is determined in every point of trajectory due to amplitude-modulated warning signal showing that the temperature is close to critical point and signal with increased temperature-frequency coefficient being created representing itself high rate of signal frequency change when varying temperature and passing the critical temperature point. High temperature zone location and configuration is determined as one corresponding to mammary gland pathology location. Temperature changes on its surface is carried out by observing temperature variability dynamics. Device has in series connected heat signal transducer, amplifier and analog-to-digital converter having the first and the second keys and the first and the second threshold circuits introduced into it, multi-vibrator, acoustic emitting device and controllable oscillator producing sinusoid oscillations which input is connected to analog-to-digital converter output, and the output is connected to acoustic emitting device via the first key. The first control input of the first key is connected to amplifier output via the first threshold circuit and the second key. The second control input of the first key is connected to multi-vibrator. The second threshold circuit is between amplifier output and its control input, its second output being connected to the second key control input. EFFECT: improved reliability and reproducibility of prognosis. 2 cl, 3 dwg
