FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, potato harvesting machines. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has feeding conveyor, foliage removing rods arranged behind feeding conveyor, and tear-off roll rotated by drive and equipped with protrusions positioned for engagement with ends of rear row foliage removing rods. Protrusions are made in the form of truncated cone and arranged in longitudinal and transverse rows, in equally spaced relation from one another over the entire working surface of tear-off roll. Tear-off roll is connected to rotation drive through planetary-gear transmission provided with carrier. Tear-off roll, satellite and epicyclic gear are loosely mounted on carrier. Epicyclic gear is meshed with satellite and connected to carrier. Tear-off roll is mounted on carrier with eccentricity relative to carrier. Epicyclic gear is provided with brake and connected to carrier through connection clutch. EFFECT: increased efficiency and simplified construction. 2 dwg
