ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE CHASSIS SELF-LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2226159 C2

FIELD: automotive industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to passenger cars and minitrucks. Proposed self-locking differential contains housing 1, drive pinion 2, side gears 3, planet pinions 4 whose teeth are made at angle of 8-12o for rear drive and angle of 12-25o for front drive. At unfavorable road conditions in case of slipping of one of wheels signal is transmitted to locking member whose piston 6, together with gear 3, creates axial forces and rotates planet pinion 4 making it possible to turn gear 3 of standing wheel at required coefficient of locking. EFFECT: provision of automatic changing of locking coefficient in differentials when transmitting torque to front steerable wheels and rear wheels. 2 cl, 1 dwg
