FIELD: production of a water-resistant ammonium nitrate. SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertinent to production of the water-resistant ammonium nitrate used for manufacture of blasting explosives. The method of production of a water-resistant ammonium nitrate provides for neutralization of nitric acid by ammonia, evaporation of the solution up to a highly-concentrated fusion cake, introduction in the fusion cake of an aqueous solution of iron sulfate and following treatment with a granular ammonium nitrate, a hydrophobic additive, in the capacity of which they use natural stearine mixed with paraffin in amount of 0.2-0/4 % to the mass of the product. Produced ammonium nitrate has water resistance near 55 cm of water column and strength of granules about 900 g / granule, i.e. more, than twice above that required by the GOST. EFFECT: the invention allows to produce ammonium nitrate with water resistance near 55 cm of water column and its granules strength of about twice of that required by the GOST. 1 ex, 1 tbl
