FIELD: water transport; repair of ship's shell plating. SUBSTANCE: proposed composite stiffening member is used for strengthening ship's ceilings. Proposed stiffening member consists of shell plating with frames monolithically connected with reinforced cement envelope including reinforcement grate connected with framing members and concrete as filler. Laid and secured on reinforcement grate on side opposite to shell plating to be strengthened are layers of fine- mesh screen. Filler is made from fine concrete. Thickness of concrete envelope does not exceed 1/2 of height of no-load framing members. EFFECT: enhanced crack resistance; reduced mass; reduced usage of materials and labor consumption. 2 cl, 2 dwg
