FIELD: processes for welding butts of large and small diameter tubes at making pipelines. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of dressing edges of welded parts at blunting them; selecting blunting value depending upon steel kind, wall thickness of welded tubes, heat absorption at electric arc welding and rate of pipeline erection according to relation d/s is less than 0.5, where d - blunting value, s - wall thickness of welded of tubes; making root seam by electric resistance flash welding. EFFECT: intensified rate of pipeline erection, enhanced effectiveness of welding-mounting operations, lowered quantity of operators, decreased consumption of welding materials, high quality of welded joint. 6 cl, 3 dwg
