FIELD: medicinal laboratory equipment, in particular, production of series parallel sections of paraffin-immersed animal or plant tissues. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has sledge microtome and head including tape-transport unit, pressing unit and tape tightening unit. Tape-transport unit has tape-transport drum with throttle, which are immovably secured with one another and mounted on pole for axial rotation, and stop catch. Pressing unit is made in the form of U-shaped spring-loaded frame provided with pressure plate and spring-loaded throttle rotation catch. Tape tightening unit is made in the form of U-shaped frame with heavy cross-piece. Tape pressing unit and tightening unit are independently fixed on pole in opposite relation with respect to one another for performing oscillating motions. Such construction allows biological material to be arranged in the form of series of sections strictly oriented with respect to one another on carrier tape.
