VINYL CHLORIDE (CO) Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2230755 C1

FIELD: polymer production.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing suspension-type vinyl chloride (co)polymers capable of being dissolved in lacquer solvents, which method may be used in production of film-forming polymers for varnish-and-paint industry. In a method of production of vinyl chloride (co)polymers via suspension radical (co)polymerization of vinyl chloride at 65-80оС in presence of molecular weight regulator, dispersion stabilizer, and monomer-soluble initiator in apparatus provided with stirrer and heat-transfer jacket, heating of reaction mixture to (co)polymerization temperature is accomplished at heating rate 0.4-2.0оС/min and reaction mixture circulation factor in reactor with stirrer ranges from 0.01 to 0.08 s-1. (Co)polymerization process is conducted at the same circulation factor. Average-number molecular weight of resulting vinyl chloride(co)polymers achieves 20900-30200, solubility 99.5-99.9 wt %, and bulk density 0.51-0.56 g/cm3.

EFFECT: increased solubility and bulk density of low-molecular vinyl chloride (co)polymers.
