POLYVINYL CHLORIDE WITH ENHANCED SOLUBILITY IN ORGANIC SOLVENTS, POLYVINYL CHLORIDE VARNISH BASED ON THEREOF AND THEIR USING Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2237677 C1

FIELD: chemistry of high-molecular compounds, chemical, paint and varnish industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to polyvinyl chloride with Fikentcher's constant 32-45 that is prepared by an aqueous-suspension polymerization of mixture containing vinyl chloride, peroxide initiating agent, water, stabilizing agent and chlorinated hydrocarbon as regulating agent of molecular mass, at mixture pH 7-9, heating and intensive stirring at stirring rate 1.65-1.67 s-1. Polyvinyl chloride represents powder consisting of nonporous glass-like particles with specific surface 0.005-0.2 m2/g and exhibits the enhanced solubility 99.5-99.9% in organic solvents. Invention relates also to polyvinyl chloride varnish comprising above indicated polyvinyl chloride, organic solvents and, if necessary, other special additives (pigments, stabilizing agents, modifying agents, filling agents). Invention relates also to application of suspension polyvinyl chloride, in particular, as varnish for covering metal, wood, fabrics, concrete and articles made of them. Varnish is stable in storing, varnish covers show good properties: adhesion, hardness, strength, elasticity and corrosion resistance in corrosive media.

EFFECT: valuable properties of varnish.
