FIELD: methods and systems for target indication, applicable in aircraft and helicopters of various types as a component of navigation-and-attack systems.

SUBSTANCE: the method is based on a matched presentation on a TV display of the radar image of the target location (radar image), and the images are moved on the TV display, matching the motion with the aircraft attitude, the chart of the section of the underlying surface in the area of the radar image, coordinated with the radar operating mode and with the co-ordinates of the current position of the aircraft determined by the navigation system, is brought out to the TV display. The matched image is moved with a due account made for the components of the ground speed of the flight vehicle, turned with a due account made for the heading and the sight azimuth, the balance of the radar image and chart presentation is adjusted, in this case a digital electronic chart prepared before the flight in the ground conditions is used as a chart. For processing of the radar image use is made of a matrix video processor, and in preparation of the chart the text denominations of the geographical objects and targets, their co-ordinates are plotted on it, and the conventional designations of the target for programmed targets are plotted on the chart. The object is attained with the aim of the target identification system including a radar, navigation system, series-connected video module of symbolic information, video mixer and a TV display, series-connected analog-to-digital converter, video processor and a digital-to-analog converter, as well as a microcomputer, storage unit, matching unit, video module of digital electronic chart, TV signal converter and a check data module.

EFFECT: improved operating characteristics due to enhanced quality of the radar image on the display, and use of a digital electronic chart.
