FIELD: electrical engineering; primarily medium- and high-power frequency converters for single-phase loads.
SUBSTANCE: frequency converter incorporating dc section has m-phase thyristor bridge rectifier (m is a multiple of 3), single-phase thyristor bridge inverter connected to mentioned rectifier through smoothing reactor, single-phase saturable transformers connected in series between supply mains phase leads and ac leads of m-phase thyristor bridge rectifier, their quantity being dependant of phase number of supply mains, as well as single-phase load. Novelty is that newly introduced in frequency converter circuit is single-phase isolating transformer that has m primary windings connected to respective secondary windings of single-phase saturable transformers and one secondary winding connected in series with load at single-phase bridge inverter output.
EFFECT: enhanced frequency range without using artificial switching.
