FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method for preparing pentaerythryl-tetrakis-[3-(3,5-di-tert.-butyl-4-oxyphenyl)-propionate] used as effective non-coloring, nontoxic and low-volatile stabilizing agent for rubbers, plastics and other polymeric materials. Method involves re-esterification of methyl-3-(3,5-di-tert.-butyl-4-oxyphenyl)-propionate with pentaerythritol at enhanced temperature in the presence of catalyst in medium with dimethylformamide or dimethylsulfoxide and the isolation of the end product by crystallization. As a catalyst, method involves using zinc acetate taken in the amount 1-6 wt.-% per the charged methyl-3-(3,5-di-tert.-butyl-4-oxyphenyl)-propionate. Dimethylformamide or dimethylsulfoxide are used in the amount 30-100% as measured for the reaction mass. This the economically profit method provides preparing the high quality end product with the yield about 98%.
