FIELD: industrial organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides catalytic composition containing active nickel component with 25-60% Ni on the weight of composition, molybdenum component (5-20% Mo), and 10-50% binder containing at least one of silica and silicates and at least one of zinc, aluminum, zirconium, magnesium, and calcium oxides, each of indicated aluminum, calcium, and zinc oxides being present in amounts not exceeding 2 wt %. Propane-1,3-diol is obtained via selective hydrogenation of 3-hydroxypropanal in aqueous solution in presence of above defined catalytic composition.
EFFECT: reduced amount of leachable components in catalytic composition without significant loss in crushing strength and increased propane-1,3-diol production process efficiency.
