FIELD: measurement of sound pressure in an acoustic wave.
SUBSTANCE: to determine the direction to a sound source in plane, a laser beam is directed to the medium under investigation perpendicularly to the plane. After the focusing lens the light beam is divided into two beams. The light beams are directed to two blades. The edges of the blades or lines, along which a phase jump occurs, are installed mutually perpendicularly. Then, the light is directed to two photodetectors. The output signals of the latters get amplified. The amplified signals are summed up, the signal at the output of the adder is maintained constant due to the feedback loop from the adder output to the inputs of the amplifiers. The direction of the line along which the local spot deflects is determined by the value of one of the signals at the output of the amplifiers with due account made for the phase of the signals. The direction to the sound source is parallel with this line.
EFFECT: expanded potentialities and reduced interference.
