LETTER-BOX Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: articles of domestic use, in particular, articles for reliable storage of letters.

SUBSTANCE: letter-box has casing, box door, letter drop slot made in box upper cover, lower and upper plates arranged inside box. Lower plate is fixed on box rear wall and upper plate is positioned for rotation on pin, which divides said plate into upper and lower parts, with upper part alternatively abutting against box cover and lower part against box rear wall. Moment of force applied by upper part relative to axis of rotation exceeds moment of force applied by lower part of plate relative to same axis. Letter drop slot is arranged above part of rotating plate with smaller moment of force, and half the height of standard newspaper sheet exceeds distance from box bottom to lower end of rotating plate. Letter-box is equipped with digital code lock mounted on door.

EFFECT: increased efficiency and enhanced reliability in keeping letters.
