FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing aromatic compounds. Method involves carrying out alkylation reaction of benzene with olefins in the presence of aluminum chloride-base catalyst complex. Part of direct benzene and polyalkylbenzenes with moisture content 0.015-0.025 wt.-% are fed to preparing the catalyst complex and their main amount is mixed with condensed reflexive benzene and fed to bottom part of alkylating device in common with the catalyst complex. The total ratio of aluminum chloride to ethyl chloride and water is maintained at the level = 1:0.2:0.1, respectively.
EFFECT: reduced energy consumption.
