FIELD: transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed propeller shaft has two flange-fork, each with lugs and holes and flange with end face splines, movable joint consisting of sliding fork with lugs and holes, shank with outer splines and splined shaft consisting of interconnected bushing with inner splines, tube and welded-to fork with lugs and holes, and also two joints, each consisting of cross and needle bearings. Thermally treated steel of reduced hardness penetration subjected to preliminary thermal treatment, coming to use of forging heat, and final thermal treatment in form of three-axial surface hardening with self- tempering or furnace tempering, is used for manufacture of flange-fork, sliding fork and welded-to fork of splined shaft.
EFFECT: increased service life of propeller shaft, reduced mass and cost of manufacture of shaft.
