FIELD: transport engineering; mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacture of propeller shafts which can be used in trucks, passenger cars and other vehicles. Proposed propeller shaft contains two joints with crosses and bearings, two flange yokes and movable splined joint made in form of splined bushing with inner splines and cylindrical outer with seal in form of telescopic protection. Connection of propeller shaft with vehicle sets is made through end face splines in flange-yokes. Trapezoidal end face splines serve simultaneously as alignment elements. Crosses are made of flow-hardening steel hardened by heating by high-frequency currents and made with conical blending of trunnions into cross body. Working surfaces of splined bushing are coated with antifriction polymeric material. Telescopic protection is provided by double-edge seal made of polyurethane composition in contact with polymer-coated cylindrical surface of bushing. EFFECT: increased service life of universal joint and splined connection, reduced vibration and cut down labor input in mounting and demounting. 4 dwg
