SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing phenolic resins of resol type that can be used for preparing laminated composition materials, soundproofing and heat-insulating materials. Resols are prepared by condensation of phenolic compounds with aldehydes in the presence of alkaline-earth metal hydroxide as a catalyst. Dispersing agent is added in the process or after condensation and after termination of the condensation reaction and after addition of a dispersing agent the chelating agent is added that represents water-soluble compounds forming chelates with metal ions. Invention provides preparing resols with high stability and moisture resistance. Alkali-earth metal carbonate precipitate doesn't form in the process of synthesis.
