SUBSTANCE: new graft copolymers are provided prepared by (i) condensation of symmetric or nonsymmetric ketones with aliphatic, arylaliphatic, cyclic or aromatic, with at least one nonaromatic hydrocarbon residues and aldehydes with general formula R(CHO)n wherein R is hydrogen, aliphatic, arylaliphatic, aromatic, or heterocyclic residue and n= 1 or 2, or by (ii) cocondensation of above-defined ketones and aldehydes with cocondensation partners selected from group including compounds with acid groups, aminoplastic precursors and/or aromatic compounds, lignin derivatives, and mono- or polyvalent metal compounds to form water-soluble condensation or cocondensation products that are then subjected to grafting of anionic and/or nonionic and/or cationic unsaturated monomers in aqueous solution.
