FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the development of steel that can be used in making crankshafts for diesel engines with cross section 500 mm and above by method of electroslag re-melting. The claimed steel comprises the following components, wt.-%: carbon, 0.03-0.06; silicon, 0.10-0.40; manganese, 0.20-0.80; chrome, 11.00-12.50; nickel, 2.80-3.50; molybdenum, 0.35-0.60, and/or copper, 0.80-1.50; niobium, 0.005-0.02; titanium, 0.005-0.02; vanadium, 0.008-0.12; aluminum, 0.005-0.02; nitrogen, 0.002-0.025; calcium, 0.005-0.02; cerium, 0.005-0.03; barium, 0.002-0.02; iron and impurities, the balance. Invention provides preparing steel showing high resistance to cracks in electoslag re-melting, high mechanical properties, in particular, value δ0.2 > 590 MPa in cross sections 500 mm. Steel doesn't require intense cooling in oil or water in the process of thermal treatment.
EFFECT: improved, enhanced and valuable properties of steel.
