NON-LETHAL ACTION BURSTING CHARGE FOR A HAND GRENADE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: defense industry; production of hand grenades and bursting charges for them.

SUBSTANCE: the invention is dealt with the field of military engineering devices used for short-time neutralization of the armed enemy personnel, in particular for hand grenades of non-lethal action. It also may be used in special destination units against armed criminals, and also in common military units for training purposes. A bursting charge for a hand grenade of non-lethal action contains a body with located in it a primer-igniter, a pyrotechnic decelerator and a primer - detonator as well as a protective- piercing device containing a sleeve fastened to the body, a spring-loaded striker, a trigger, a splint and a thimble. The new thing in the invention is, that the sleeve has a longitudinal slit and the sleeve threaded or fluted part is built-up on the mounting surface of the body, that is made out of a soft plastic, for example, polystyrene and is supplied with a branch-pipe, which is going deep in the sleeve. The branch- pipe wall has radial grooves guiding the pressure of gases of a primer-igniter at its actuation onto the walls of the sleeve, and the striker is supplied with a washer blocking release of gases of the primer-igniter from the branch-pipe cavity. The invention allows to avoid damaging action of splinters from the bursting charge at explosion of the hand grenade, because the body of the bursting charge is made out of the soft plastic, that does not form dangerous splinters and the dangerous metal components separate from the grenade with a relatively low speed, safe for the thrower.

EFFECT: invention allows the thrower to avoid damaging action of splinters from the bursting charge having a plastic body and from explosion of the grenade due to low speed of its splinters.
