FIELD: water treatment.

SUBSTANCE: water is treated to eliminate bacterial contamination by excited oxygen using sensitizer and visible light emission in presence of oxygen, said sensitizer being of cation type in solution, more particularly cationic dyes, namely zinc or aluminum octapyridiniomethyl-phthalocyanine or phenothiazine dye.

EFFECT: ensured effective and environmentally safe technology for full disinfecting of bacterially contaminated water.
