METHOD OF EARLY DETECTION OF LACK OF USAGE OF FUEL FROM EXTERNAL FUEL TANKS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2236368 C1

FIELD: aircraft fuel systems.

SUBSTANCE: base event is determined for each external fuel tank which is previous to beginning of its use and interval of time of beginning of this event; length is so selected that use of fuel from external fuel tanks starts earlier than its termination; moment of termination of interval is determined as first reading of fuel gauge of internal tank; then, present readings are periodically taken and are compared with first reading taking into account error. In case of reduction in readings before appearance of TANK EMPTY signal failure of LACK OF USE OF FUEL is present. Termination of use of previous tank may be considered to be base event. Instantaneous flow rate of fuel shall be also checked; it shall not exceed rate of transfer of fuel from external fuel tank; fuel gauge and automatic control units shall be also checked for condition.

EFFECT: possibility of finding failure in due time.
