FIELD: digital data transfer including their transfer over paths including pulse-code modulation channels and analog lines.
SUBSTANCE: quantity of quantization levels of readings transferred over analog communication line is minimized for given line, and signal received from the latter is converted into channel PCM signal whose sampling frequency is reduced at the same time in proportion to ratio of number of quantization levels of readings transferred over PCM channel to number of quantization levels of readings transmitted over analog communication line. This is attained by means of shift register designed for sequential recording of binary readings from bidirectional analog communication line at sampling frequency of this bidirectional line and for concurrent reading of content of this shift register at sampling frequency of PCM channel. In the process data transfer speed over entire path is brought to that transfer over PCM channel irrespective of quality of actually used analog communication lines. Digital data transfer system has series-connected modulator, analog communication line, direct converter, PCM channel, reverse converter, one more analog communication line, and demodulator.
EFFECT: enhanced data transfer speed over entire path.
