APPARATUS FOR QUENCHING ARTICLES ON TABLE OF PRESS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy, namely apparatuses for cooling and quenching extruded articles, mainly of aluminum alloys directly of table of press.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus for quenching articles includes bath for cooling articles with slit nozzles arranged in bath ends at sides of inlet and outlet of articles to and out of bath respectively; system for supplying cooling water and draining water in central part of bath. Said bath is made in the form of closed envelope at side of introducing articles to it and it has flange for detachable connection with back head of press extrusion die. Slit nozzles are annular ones. Slit nozzle at side of introducing articles is mounted with possibility of guiding directly to inner cavity of back head of press extrusion die. Apparatus also includes member for detachable connection with end flange-half of head portion of movable table of press. Said member is mounted with possibility of resting upon guides of front crosspiece of press by its surface whose contour is similar to that of outer surface of back head and forward head of press extrusion die. In upper portion bath has through groove.

EFFECT: enlarged manufacturing possibilities of universal presses at forward and backward extrusion, less loss of yield, improved operational reliability.
