FIELD: biofouling control.
SUBSTANCE: coating is made from composition comprising polymer base providing indispensable mechanical properties of the coating and β-active radionuclide additive providing suppression of adhering of propagation phases of fouling organisms due to high radiation dose power in immediate proximity to coating. This additive is incorporated in the form of fine powder or solution into polymer base and resulting composition is converted into film, which is cut and glued to underwater part of ships, installations, and structures operated in water medium.
EFFECT: ensured radiation safety when coating surface to be protected, simplified deactivation working area (floating dock), and reduced environmental damage from non-fouling coating.
