FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of imparting to casing of mold high-frequency precession motions relative to its lengthwise axis due to subjecting upper end of casing normally relative to its axis to double-component oscillations caused by translation motion of it along elliptical or multi-petal path. Lower end of casing is mounted in mold housing with possibility of rotation without reciprocation motions. In housing of mold casing is arranged in such a way that its upper end extends outside mold housing and supports pneumatic inertial vibration exciters rigidly secured to said upper end. In lower part of mold housing there is retainer with inner spherical surface in which outlet end of casing is mounted with possibility of rotation without translation motions by means of sleeve having outer spherical surface and secured to said outlet end.
EFFECT: possibility for controlling heat-mass exchange processes in melt, enhanced thermal mode of metal crystallization, lowered resistance to passing through mold due to subjecting it to vibration, improved structure and surface quality of continuously cast billets.
