FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves briquetting waste, heating briquettes in rotary tubular furnace using solid carbon-containing substance as reducing agent, afterburning of flue gases, cooling and entrapping zinc-containing dust. Waste is briquetted together with solid carbon-containing substance, in particular ground coal or brown coal. Briquettes are transferred into straight-flow tubular furnace heated by fuel-air burners disposed on the charge side of furnace. Temperature of briquettes at the furnace outlet is maintained within the range 700 to 1000оС. Flue gas velocity in the furnace, reduced to normal conditions, us set to be between 0.3 and 1.0 m/s. Waste, prior to be briquetted, is preliminarily heated in countercurrent tubular furnace to 550-1000оС.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of recovering zinc from waste and of reducing iron oxides.
