FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly manufacture of polyhedral parts such as nuts.
SUBSTANCE: hard-alloy die includes yoke that embraces sleeve with polyhedral opening. Hard-alloy insert is pressed-in to said opening and it includes separate sections in the form of prisms of trapezoidal cross section with cut angles on non-working ends. Number of sections corresponds to number of faces of upset article. Cuts of cut angles are arranged symmetrically relative to faces of working end. Faces of sleeve are mutually adjoined along radius equal to thickness of section. Thickness of section is selected in corresponding range.
EFFECT: enhanced strength of die, less consumption of hard alloy for making sections of insert.
