FIELD: aluminum producing electrolyzers and electric power regeneration from electrolyzer to produce aluminum.
SUBSTANCE: proposed electrolyzer that depends for its operation on regeneration of heat loss through side walls of electrolysis bath in the form of electric power and to produce stable thin layer of cured electrolyte on internal surface of side wall facing has anode and electrolysis bath incorporating outer steel shell, carbon blocks on bath bottom forming electrolyzer cathode, and heat-resistant, high-temperature heat-insulating material on internal part of steel-shell side walls. At least part of electrolysis bath side wall is built of one or more evaporative cooling panels.
EFFECT: enhanced stability of cured electrolyte layer on inner end of facing resistant to temperature variations of molten electrolyte or electrolyte compound.
