METHOD FOR APPLYING LASER RADIATION THERAPY IN TREATING THE CASES OF PHARMACORESISTANT DEPRESSIVE DISORDERS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

SUBSTANCE: method involves applying low intensity laser radiation in combined mode. First, red light radiation of wavelength equal to 0.63-0.69 mcm and power of 1-2 mW is applied in supraveinous mode for 10-20 min. Then, contact treatment is applied to biologically active zones, projection zones of organs and systems pathogenetically associated with depressive disorders. The treatment involves exposing the zones to pulsating infrared radiation of wavelength equal to 0.89mcm, pulse energy of 4.5-5 W and in frequency mode continuously growing from 80 to 1500 Hz in treating each zone during 1 h. Treatment time is of the order of 8-45 s per each zone at each frequency. The low intensity laser radiation treatment is administered within 10-14 sessions with 1.5-2 weeks long pauses. Frequency mode grows in the following sequence of 80-150-300-600-1500 Hz. The low intensity laser radiation treatment is administered at the same time of a day. The sessions are given every day in the cases of normotonic or sympatheticotonic tendency of vegetative tonus. Vagotonia being the case, the sessions are administered every second-third day in two stages each being 5-7 sessions long. Supravenous action is applied to cubital vein projection. The contact action is applied to orbital, temporal zones, jugular neurovascular fascicles projections, suprarenal gland projections, in paravertebral mode, and to liver projection.
