CYLINDRICAL PART ORIENTING APPARATUS Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: automatic systems for orienting cylindrical parts in manufacturing processes of continuous production lines.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes inlet tray, fixed base, orienting mechanism and outlet tray. Horizontal rotation axle is mounted in fixed base. Casing is used for feeding parts from inlet tray. Orienting mechanism is used for orienting parts along their outer contour. Said mechanism includes transporting and basing discs mounted along the same axis with possibility of simultaneous rotation around horizontal rotation axle; orienting disc mounted over fixed base and having seats; orienting and supporting knives. Transporting and basing discs have radial grooves forming organs for gripping parts along their outer surface when said parts are fed from inlet tray in position with their recesses or working ends being forward and in parallel relative to horizontal rotation axle until they rest upon edge of orienting knife. Supporting knife is in the form of circle sector rigidly secured to fixed base and having radius respective to inner radius of radial groves of basing disc in order to place part in parallel relative to horizontal rotation axle when part is moved to seat of orienting disc. Orienting knife is in the form circle sector with variable radius. Orienting knife has edge in the form of screw surface for gripping and fixing part arranged in radial grooves of transporting and basing discs in position with its recess being forward when said part is axially moved to seat of orienting disc. Outlet tray is arranged on base; it has receiving funnel joined with supporting knife for discharging cylindrical parts with their working end turned forward.

EFFECT: reliable gripping and fixation of part on surface of recess during process of continuous circular transportation of parts, improved efficiency of part orienting process, enlarged functional possibilities of apparatus.
