FIELD: microbiology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for assay of bacterial population by polarography method. The respiratory control of microorganisms population is determined by the ratio of rates before and after inhibition of active respiration of microorganisms population that oxidize D-(+)-glucose to the final concentration 10-25 nmole/cm2 into the polarographic cell. The rate of oxygen loss from the incubation medium is recorded by using platinum electrode of the open type. Method is simple, it elicits the universality and increases the reliability of the investigation results.
EFFECT: improved assay method.
