METHOD FOR GABION CONSOLIDATION STRUCTURE ERECTION IN WATER STREAM Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: hydraulic structures, particularly for consolidating slopes, river or channel beds.

SUBSTANCE: method involves laying netted gabion mats filled with stones on prepared dam slope base along river bed, wherein gabion mats are made as bags of woven net. Method of gabion mats production includes unwinding net from rolls; folding net in two; sewing net layers with tie wire along bag bottom; sewing net layers in transversal directions to divide bag into several sections; laying bag on dam slope and anchoring thereof on berm with the use of anchors; tightly filling bag sections with stones beginning from extreme ones; sewing upper bag edge with tie wire; laying next bag on dam slope; filling thereof with stones; seriously connecting bags with tie wire along their perimeters to form gabion consolidation structure. Bags may be laid so that transversal axis thereof is oriented towards water flow direction. Bag length and width are 1.5 - 2.5 m and 0.6 - 1.5 m correspondingly.

EFFECT: increased efficiency and reliability of bed protection against erosion; increased life of bed consolidation structure.
