FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: a sequence of paired light impulses of preset length being equal to 50 msec is suggested for a patient being separated with inter-impulse interval being equal to 150 msec, repeated every constant time interval of 1 sec. During the first stage of measurements the duration of inter-impulse interval between light impulses in a pair should be decreased at preset constant rate of 20 msec/sec till the patient could detect the moment of subjective fusion of two light impulses in pair into one. During the second stage the duration of inter-impulse interval between light impulses in pair should be increased at preset constant rate of 2 msec/sec for a patient to detect the moment of subjective feeling of separateness of two light impulses in pair. During the third stage the duration if inter-impulse interval should be decreased discretely at preset constant pace of 0.1 msec for a patient to detect the moment of subjective fusion of two light impulses in pair into one. Lability of human visual system is considered to be equal to the value of frequency of light impulses sequence in Hz by the following formula: F = 1/(τimp + tthr), where τimp - the duration of light impulse; tthr - threshold duration of inter-impulse interval between light impulses in pair detected during the third stage of measurements conducted.
