METHOD FOR CARRYING OUT INFERIOR BLEPHAROPLASTY Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves oblique skin incision along a wrinkle line some distance far from external eye angle and under the ciliated edge. Skin flap is detached from orbicular muscle of the eye downward to 1/2 of distance from eyelashes growth line the lower orbital edge. Then, orbicular muscle of the eye is horizontally cut. Skin is detached together with muscle in the middle of the distance separating the ciliated edge from the lower orbital edge 0.5-1 cm below the orbital edge. Tarso-orbital fascia is cut and fat hernias and skin excess are removed. Anterior orbicular muscle is layer-by-layer strengthened by suturing the tarso-orbital fascia as duplicature with vertical shortening. Muscle flap is excised near the external eye angle and orbital portion of the orbicular muscle is transferred attaching its anterior edge to periosteum. Sutures are placed over wound mouth.

EFFECT: reduced risk of postoperative complications and surgical traumatic injuries.
