FIELD: electrical engineering; controlling semiconductor power converters.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes reduction of output voltage and conversion frequency for motor starting period, detection of motor turn-on moment by current increase in power circuit to value exceeding working current, reduction of output voltage and frequency to minimum, maintenance of these values until current reduces to almost steady state value, and gradual increase of output voltage and frequency to rated values, whereupon rated voltage and frequency are maintained.
EFFECT: simplified design, reduced mass, size, and cost of converter supplied with power from limited-rating mains.
