FIELD: ultrasonic length and distance measurements; liquid media level monitoring systems.

SUBSTANCE: proposed level gage has sealed tube 1, ultrasonic transducer 2, float 4 mounted on butt-end of waveguide 3 and provided with permanent magnet 5, metering coil 6, generator 7, first flip-flop 8, logical unit 9 that functions as EXCLUSIVE OR gate, amplifier 10, comparator 11, second flip-flop 12, and resolving unit 13. Rectangular pulses whose mean length is independent of signal amplitude in metering coil 6 generated by means of first flip-flop 8, comparator 11, logical unit 9, and second flip-flop 12 provide for high-precision location of permanent magnet 5 on waveguide 3 and, consequently, for accurate measurement of liquid level.

EFFECT: enhanced liquid-level measurement accuracy.
