FIELD: antenna engineering; shaping double-lobe directivity pattern with each lobe independently scanned.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for shaping two independently oriented lobes in directivity pattern of phased antenna array depends on quantization of phase shifts in radiator channels; in the process, phase shift in each radiator channel is set to equal sum of two discrete phases of which one corresponds to binary (that is with discrete value π) quantization of phase shift through angle Θ'z ensuring beam deviation through angle Θ'z and other one, to quantization of phase shift at shorter step affording beam deviation through angle Θ"z, angles Θ'z and Θ"z being chosen for independent guidance of first and second main lobes in direction of Θ1z and Θ2z in compliance with definite equation.
EFFECT: provision for shaping directivity pattern with two arbitrarily oriented main lobes.
