FIELD: apiculture.

SUBSTANCE: method involves normalizing acoustic signal taken by means of outside microphone; separating preliminarily selected more informative frequency signals from said acoustic signal by means of narrow-band frequency filters; detecting filter signals and analyzing by means of comparator units, binary codes of which are delivered to input of recognizing device having microcomputer and indicator, with microcomputer analyzing acoustic signal issued by bee family for predetermined time interval and calculating characteristics of produced variation row in the form of code repeating frequencies, relative frequencies and statistic characteristics of code distribution in the form of average value, dispersion, asymmetry coefficient, and excess; recognizing bee family state on the basis of resultant data, said recognition state being indicated on indicator in the form of concrete message, as well as code distribution characteristics, variation row, and diagram characterizing state of bee family under diagnosis procedure. Portable apparatus is equipped with built-in recognizing system and may be used on apiary under field conditions. Bee keeper may independently find out correspondence with known state and produced digital information in the form of table and deduced diagram.

EFFECT: increased efficiency and provision for usage of method and apparatus in various regions of the Earth.
