FIELD: explosives.
SUBSTANCE: preparation of industrial ammonium nitrate-based explosive comprises mixing and impregnation of ammonium nitrate granules with liquid fuel. Impregnation is effected in a continuous suspension phase while simultaneously destroying microstructure of ammonium nitrate crystals by affecting suspension with ultraviolet emission, after which fuel-loaded ammonium nitrate granules are pressed to remove excessive fuel. The latter operation can also be accompanied by simultaneous ultraviolet action on suspension. Resulting explosive is characterized by essentially uniform distribution of fuel throughout the oxidant.
EFFECT: enhanced blasting efficiency due to increased detonation velocity and susceptibility to initiating pulse.
