FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, equipment used in feed preparing machines.

SUBSTANCE: roll-type baler operating in conjunction with tractor comprises pressing apparatus including chain-and-plate conveyor and two supporting rolls. Chain-and-plate conveyor is flung over driving and driven shafts. Supporting rolls have equally spaced ribs provided on their outer surfaces. Number of ribs on front roll is twice the number of ribs on rear roll. Ribs provided on front roll are lower than ribs provided on rear roll. During advancement of unit along stalk roll, baler grips roll to feed it into space between the latter and pressing grid. Stacker additionally presses and directs stalk mass through inlet window into compression chamber. Stalk mass is compressed by chain-and-plate conveyor and supporting rolls and turned for producing of stalk mass roll. Ribs on supporting rolls enable additional rolling of tubular stalks of green mass and reduce amount of oxygen remained in stalk mass roll.

EFFECT: increased density of compressing stalk mass and reduced consumption of packaging material.
