FIELD: manufacture of castings of magnesium alloys by casting to sandy-argillaceous molds.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of adding to molding sand protective additive consisting of urea, boric acid and aluminum sulfate; preliminarily disintegrating urea and aluminum sulfate to powder; adding urea, boric acid and aluminum sulfate to molding sand one after another; agitating molding sand after adding each component.
EFFECT: stable physical and mechanical properties of molding sand due to uniform distribution in it component of additive, shortened time period, lowered energy consumption for preparing molding sand.
