FIRING MECHANISM OF DOUBLE-BARRELED WEAPON Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: military equipment, applicable in hunter's and sporting double-barreled guns.

SUBSTANCE: the firing mechanism of the double-barreled gun is mounted on a separate foundation and includes hammers, sears, trigger with a hinge and a change lever. The novelty in the device of the firing mechanism is in the fact an Y-shaped groove for engagement with two journals made on the selector switch, on which a plug is installed is formed in the box end, the rear part of the plug is provided with a profiled surface engageable with a spring-loaded plunger fixing the plug in three positions. Cam surfaces are formed on the hammers, they consist of two sections, one of which, being engageable with the change lever, provides for its cocking, and the other made concentrically to the axes of rotation of the hammers provides for the preset position. The firing mechanism has a change lever spring that is installed with a shift relative to the axis of rotation, and the upper part of the catch of the sears made at an angle within 19 to 21 deg and is engageable with the side catches of the catch lever. The box end has a safety device engageable with the change lever.

EFFECT: enhanced operating characteristics due to provision of a second shot in case of a misfire at the first one, a change of the sequence of shots by a single motion, information on the state of the mechanism, exclusion of "doubled" shots, fixation of the trigger at setting of the gun on safety device.
