FIELD: microwave engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed quarter-wave TEM-wave directional coupler has coupler erection plate mounted approximately perpendicular to surface of main erection plate. First and second tracks are disposed on opposite surfaces of coupler erection plate. Interconnection of electricity conducting tracks dictates impedance of coupler odd-numbered mode. First and second tracks are also disposed on opposite surfaces and connected to ground. Upper and lower tracks are arranged so that even-numbered mode impedance depends on coupling between first upper track and second lower track, as well as on coupling between second upper track and first lower track.

EFFECT: improved directivity and extended passband of directional coupler.
