FIELD: machine engineering, possibly welding of thin-sheet structures.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes non-consumable electrodes mounted in common torch and connected with the same electric current supply unit. Each electrode includes electromagnet with core end arranged in front of working end of electrode. Electromagnets are mounted in common holders and they are connected to electric current source through device for program switching of electric current. Shields made of heat resistant electrically non-conducting magnetically soft ferromagnetic material are placed between electrodes. Said shields may be metallic ones with layer of heat resistant electrically non-conducting magnetically soft ferromagnetic material applied on surfaces of their both sides.
EFFECT: improved stability of welding process due to protection of arc gaps between electrodes against magnetic fields of adjacent electromagnets.
